Berlin In the recently presented “Photovoltaic Strategy”, the Federal Ministry of Economics dedicated a separate chapter to plug-in photovoltaics. “Facilitate the use of balcony power plants” is the headline.

It states that the regulations for the connection of small photovoltaic systems should be “significantly simplified”. “Citizens should be able to connect the systems themselves and put them into operation without the help of specialists,” it says.

But this easy way is not without its dangers – when the balcony power station is connected to the home power grid using a standard Schuko plug. Under certain circumstances, a risk of electric shock cannot be ruled out. This applies at least if the inverter belonging to the system does not meet certain conditions in combination with the Schuko plug.
