How the law on heating replacement could be improved

Berlin On Friday, Chancellor Olaf Scholz (SPD) was undeterred with regard to the Building Energy Act (GEG): There may still be one or the other smaller question, “but I think the big questions have been solved,” said the Chancellor during his Africa trip. In fact, countries and trade associations are still reporting various change requests. Further demands are also being made within the traffic light coalition. They relate in particular to the level of subsidies for the installation of electric heat pumps.

The federal cabinet passed the amendment to the GEG on April 19. The draft law was drawn up jointly by the Ministry of Economic Affairs and the Ministry of Construction and still has to be passed by the Bundestag. The first reading is planned for May 25th, the second and third readings are scheduled for the end of June.
