Apple continues to increase the number of keys and buttons around its legendary iPhone: With the iPhone 15 series, we introduced iOS lovers to the Action Key, which has existed since the original iPhone and replaced the obsolete mute switch, and we also have information about the iPhone 17.
3 buttons are planned for iPhone 17!
On the iPhone 16, Apple decided to add a new physical addition to the edges of the device: Camera Control. As its name suggests, this button has a capacitive component that can be clicked to take a photo and zoom by swiping, leading to a total of five separate buttons in the iPhone 16 series. This appears to be pushing Apple away from its efforts to make an all-screen, button-less phone.
However, for the iPhone 17, which is expected to be released next year, Apple is considering making another big change on the edges of the device. Instead of the Action Button and Camera Control on one side and the power and volume keys on the other, Apple will keep only the Camera Control, moving the Action Button to the opposite side and combining its functions with the volume keys.
This change would be a very smart move if Apple can achieve it. iPhone 17 users will not only have to settle for three buttons, but they will also not have to reach up to reach the Action Key. It’s not yet known how Apple will do this, but the hybrid tactile and capacitive Camera Control key gives us some clues.
The new button will function as an Action Key when pressed, and the volume can be adjusted by sliding up and down on the button. Holding the key down can launch an app or act as a silent switch. The possibilities offered by such a key combination seem really exciting.
Besides all this, Apple is expected to replace the unpopular iPhone Plus series with the iPhone Slim, which will be its most elegant model yet. Thus, the iPhone 17 series becomes much more interesting than previously thought.
It is eagerly awaited how Apple will affect the user experience with these innovative design changes and what advantage it will gain over its competitors. iPhone enthusiasts can’t wait to see how these new features will make their daily use easier.
