How is the relationship between the US and Ukraine really?

It was just a short sentence in a Thomas Friedman column in The New York Times – but it was a sentence with explosive power. “There is deep mistrust between the White House and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky,” wrote the usually very well-informed US journalist, who cites senior US officials.

Friedman did not provide any further information about the reason for the distrust. However, the New York Times reported a few weeks ago that the US secret services complained that they were getting too little information from the Ukrainian government about the course of the war.

Accordingly, Kyiv only communicates the strategic goals to Washington, but not the detailed operational goals. Therefore, the secret services apparently lack information about the state of the Ukrainian military, its planned operations, successes and failures. This would also create blind spots within the Ukrainian government itself.
