How is the implementation of the “turning point” going in politics, business and society?

The year 2022 marked the greatest turning point in security policy since the end of the Cold War. Federal Chancellor Olaf Scholz has proclaimed the security policy “turning point” and underlined this with a 100 billion euro special fund for the Bundeswehr. But how exactly this “turn of the era” should look like is still often unclear.

The Handelsblatt Conference “Security and Defense” wants to help shape this discourse. Our focus is not only on the security industry. but above all the question: How noticeable is this “turning point” in January 2023 for politics, society and the economy? How willing are the various actors to implement them in the long term, including financially?

Be there live on January 24 at 9.20 a.m. when Larissa Holzki, Reporter Technology and Defense at Handelsblatt, will discuss with the following guests:

• Jürgen Kerner, chief cashier and executive board member of IG Metall
• dr Tobias Lindner, Minister of State, Federal Foreign Office
• dr Claudia Major, Head of the Security Policy Research Group, Science and Politics Foundation
• Armin Papperger, CEO, Rheinmetall AG
