Today, the open area of the factory has reached 1 million square meters and the closed area where production takes place has reached 400 thousand square meters. TOFAŞ, which has more than 10 thousand employees in total, can produce 450 thousand passenger and commercial automobiles per year. Some of these vehicles are sold in the domestic market, namely Turkey, while others are exported to more than 80 countries.
Of course, when TOFAŞ is mentioned, only Fiat does not come to mind. Because in Turkey, Ford Otosan has undertaken the sales and after-sales operations of the brands Chrysler, Anadol, Dodge, Lancia, Alfa Romeo, Jeep, Ferrari and Maserati.
Today, TOFAŞ opened the doors of its factory to the SDN team. We traveled from Istanbul to Bursa with the Fiat Egea, Turkey’s best-selling car, and went to the 0 point of the vehicle, namely the facility where it was produced. Production Director Recep Temizesen accompanied us on this trip.
First, we visited the press workshop, where the steel that comes in rolls is shaped as sheet metal parts. In addition, unlike many other manufacturers, we saw that the molds used to shape sheet metal parts are also produced here. In other words, we can say that TOFAŞ carries out the whole process from design to engineering, from production to assembly and delivery.
