How harmful Dax companies are to the climate – Linde ahead

Frankfurt Private and even professional investors in Germany are still doing it: they invest a very large part of their share capital in their home country. But apart from the fact that they are poorly distributing their capital regionally, they also sometimes take higher risks when it comes to sustainability than they might like.

There are real climate heaters among the companies in the German leading index Dax, as a study by the Swiss asset manager Globalance Invest found, which is available to the Handelsblatt. They can cost the stockholders dearly if they run into problems or have to invest to get cleaner.

“Investors should be aware of what they are investing in,” warns Werner Hedrich, author of the study and managing director for Germany at Globalance Invest. Some companies from the Dax are nowhere near as ecologically “clean” as they are perceived by many.
