How do you change a company from the inside out?

Dusseldorf As an in-house strategist, Tobias Krüger was given the task of leading the “Kulturwandel 4.0” team in the Otto Group in 2016 – a team with a not exactly small task, a new work and management culture for the more than 50,000 employees of the group to introduce. There was not only a lot of media attention for this – other companies also want to know from Krüger, accelerated by the corona developments: How do you do it at Otto? In September 2021, Tobias Krüger announced that he had left the Otto Group – to start his own business.

“That was the suicide command,” says Krüger, looking back on his role at Otto as a guest in the Handelsblatt Rethink Work podcast Cultural teams. In the third episode of our podcast about the new world of work, he tells what really worked and what Krüger thought was “total bullshit”.
