It sounds like a declaration of war. And the West seems to see Iran’s announcement as such: Tehran wants to significantly expand uranium enrichment.

The head of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), Rafael Grossi, informed the organization’s member states on Tuesday that the Islamic Republic had started to produce uranium with a purity of 60 percent at a second site.

So far, Iran has already been producing 60 percent uranium at the Natanz nuclear plant – now the one in Fordow, 180 kilometers south of Tehran, is also to be used. According to Iranian information, new, faster centrifuges are used there.
