Dusseldorf The omicron variant of the corona virus is causing increasing concern for the German economy. The first companies are tightening their security measures because of the impending fifth corona wave. Above all, companies in the critical infrastructure have reactivated their emergency plans due to the spread of the highly contagious Omikron variant.
For example, the energy company Eon is considering accommodating employees in network control rooms on site. One prepares for “all conceivable crisis scenarios”, it is said from Essen.
Most industrial companies remain calm for the time being, as a Handelsblatt survey shows. “We don’t have to adjust our pandemic plans because of Omikron,” said Continental. Like the automotive supplier, the companies surveyed refer to their existing security concepts, which have been tried and tested since the outbreak of the pandemic almost two years ago.
