Hot Development: This Altcoin’s Network Has Been Globally Suspended

  • One of the biggest Ethereum competitors according to the last minute developments spreading in the crypto community. wither platform’s network has been halted and network validators are coordinating the restart.

The Solana mainnet has suffered quite a bit from the outage, which was first announced by Coinbase on Twitter. The latest outage of the “Ethereum killer” appears to be a recurring stream of interruptions.

According to data from Solana Beach block explorer, Solana’s validators haven’t processed new blocks for more than five hours, resulting in a complete shutdown of all of its apps.

The previous outage occurred on May 1, 2022, when the network was shut down for about seven hours before a successful restart, and the last said outage was reportedly due to an increase in transactions.

What caused the current outage in Solana?

The Solana Status Twitter account, which gave a brief information about the outage, tweeted about the incident.

“Earlier today, a bug in the durable nonce transactions feature, a condition that hinders the progress of the network when nodes produce different results for the same block, has led to uncertainty.”

A Solana developer He addressed the issue and said in a statement on Twitter:

“Chain splits occur when two parts of the network, for whatever reason, calculate different states for the same transactions. These are a class of bugs that are difficult to completely avoid, even with extensive test coverage, and can affect any chain.”

In addition, the developer, who suggested that multi-node implementation is an effective way to avoid chain splitting errors, also stated that this reboot is only an emergency fix for the bug and not a solution to the root cause of the problem.

Solana team will secure funds

To alleviate this situation, the Solana team asked the validators to restart the network and issued some instructions for the validators. Stating that the engineers are working on a new version, the team also mentioned that the processes will be temporarily stopped until the patch is released. The team also stated that they will ensure that the network state and funds are secure.

After last month’s outage, one of Solana’s latest updates was supposed to fix network congestion issues. Instead of the problems going away as a result of a major update, Solana network problems got worse. Solana’s team needs to dig deeper to find a permanent solution rather than temporary fixes to deal with recurring outages.

Solana advertises itself as a high-performance blockchain. But over the past year it has experienced numerous outages and block occlusions. Just last month, similar to today, Solana froze for about seven hours before being brought back online with a validator reboot.
