Honor deepfake video and artificial intelligence solution to eye fatigue!

Honor introduced Defocus Eye Protection and Deepfake Video Detection technologies, two new artificial intelligence-supported features developed for the safety and health of its users, at the MWC Shanghai event. These innovations were developed to protect eye health with the increase in screen use and to defend against threats that may be caused by deepfake content.

Today, while computer and phone use is rapidly increasing, this has led to an increase in cases of eye fatigue and myopia (farsightedness). Honor introduced artificial intelligence-based Defocus Eye Protection technology as a solution to this problem. This feature aims to reduce the negative effects of long hours spent in front of the screen on eye health by transferring the effect of defocused glasses to screens.

Defocus glasses prevent the eye from extending by keeping the center clear while blurring the peripheral vision. This new software solution from Honor has the potential to reduce temporary myopia by an average of 13 degrees. For some users, this improvement can reach up to 75 degrees.

Another remarkable feature introduced by Honor is deepfake video detection technology. This artificial intelligence-supported feature detects fake content by analyzing factors such as eye contact, lighting and image clarity. Moreover, it works in real time during video calls, instantly alerting users to potential scams.

Deepfake videos have become one of the important threats of the digital age. These fake media are used for purposes such as identity theft, creating fake identities or fraud by producing realistic but misleading content. Honor has developed a strong defense mechanism against this threat and can detect fake content in as little as three seconds using artificial intelligence technology.

It is not yet clear whether these new artificial intelligence features work entirely on the device or require an internet connection. Honor stated that it will soon share details about which devices and when these technologies will be available.
