What will become of this defensive trio?
Three homegrown plants are on the way, Hertha to leave because they see better career opportunities at other clubs.
► Linus Gechter (18) has had a difficult first half of the season. Due to an infection and tonsil surgery, the central defender was only on the bench on the first day of the game at Union (1: 3), otherwise he was missing from the squad. Most recently, he gained match practice with the U23s in the regional league.
Gechter is therefore looking around for alternatives. As “transfermarkt.de” first reported, Gechter visited Braunschweig a few days ago. The second division is urgently looking for reinforcements in defense, a loan in the winter is likely.

According to BILD information, discussions are ongoing. However, there is still plenty of time for other interested parties to position themselves before the change window in January. This fits: Gechter switched from the consulting agency “Rogon” to “Sports360”. A sign of a new path – first without Hertha?
► Marton Dardai (20) is also not satisfied with his playing times. The left-footed player was only on the pitch for 90 minutes once, otherwise he makes six part-time appearances. So far he has been at a disadvantage compared to defense boss Marc Kempf (27).

Dardai was set in central defense in his debut season 2020/21 and had caused a stir in the Bundesliga. This is one of the reasons why several clubs from Germany should have him on the list. Like Gechter, Dardai also has a contract until 2025 – which he probably does not want to fulfill at Hertha for the time being.
► U23 left-back Luke Ullrich (18) is free transfer in summer, is courted by Gladbach, Bremen, Frankfurt, Stuttgart and Hoffenheim. Negotiations with Borussia should be very far.
Hertha is also trying to get a contract extension with a professional perspective, but his father Ulf says: “I have doubts that Lukas actually has a perspective at Hertha. There is currently no specific offer.”
