Berlin The future belongs to renewable energies, also when it comes to heating houses. Gas and oil boilers still dominate in Germany, but for reasons of climate protection, this should change as quickly as possible. From as early as 2024, at least 65 percent of new heating systems should be operated with renewable energies.

This is regulated in the Building Energy Act (GEG). The amendment to the law has not yet been passed, but the basics are clear – and the 65 percent quota is already laid down in the coalition agreement between the SPD, the Greens and the FDP.

There are many questions in this transition phase: With which models can the 65 percent target be achieved at all? And should owners of old buildings quickly have gas or oil heating installed this year, which is significantly cheaper than heat pumps, at least to buy? An overview of the most common variants and the associated advantages and disadvantages.
