Head of statutory health insurance Gassen demands: On October 30th, the end of ALL Corona measures! – Domestic policy

Bratwurst, cocktails or even a fuff on hand – politicians and associations are currently outdoing each other when it comes to suggestions on how to convince more people of the corona vaccination …

Head of Statutory Health Insurance Physicians Dr. Andreas Gassen wants to set a completely different vaccination incentive: the end of all corona measures, a fixed “Freedom Day” on October 30th!

“After the experiences from Great Britain we should also have the courage to do what worked on the island. So we now need a clear statement from politicians: In six weeks we will also have Freedom Day! All restrictions will be lifted on October 30th! “, Said the chairman of the board of the National Association of Statutory Health Insurance Physicians (KBV) of the” Neue Osnabrücker Zeitung “.

► Gassen’s conjecture: “Then at the end of October we will have a vaccination quota of 70 percent or even higher, because a lot of people will then take up the offer as quickly as possible.”

In Great Britain, Prime Minister Boris Johnson had already proclaimed “Freedom Day” on July 17th. Denmark followed the British route a few weeks ago. The most important finding, according to Gassen: The health system has nowhere collapsed. “With the British it was perhaps still daring. The Danes have already followed the path. No health emergency is foreseeable there either. So what are we waiting for? “

At the moment, the rate of fully vaccinated people in Germany is 62.8 percent, which is partly lower than in other European countries. 67 percent of Germans have received at least one initial vaccination.

Lauterbach wants vaccination bonus

SPD health politician Karl Lauterbach wants to rely on a state premium in order to convince those who have not yet been vaccinated: “From my point of view, in the situation in which we are, we should not exclude any means to induce more people to vaccinate,” said the Member of the Bundestag for the “Passauer Neue Presse”. “This also applies to the payment of so-called vaccination premiums, which I have always been very skeptical about,” he explained.

Germany needs a much higher vaccination quota in order to return to normal in the foreseeable future. Otherwise “a difficult autumn” threatens.

According to the health expert, the currently slightly falling incidence values are no reason to give the all-clear. “What we are currently seeing is, in my opinion, a break, not much more,” said Lauterbach. “I assume that the number of cases will rise again at the moment when people’s lives increasingly take place indoors.”
