According to the latest data from research firm Counterpoint Research, Huawei HarmonyOS; It has surpassed iOS to become the second most popular mobile operating system in China. The research covering the Chinese market revealed that HarmonyOS reached historical figures.

HarmonyOS increased its market share from 8 percent in the first quarter of 2023 to 17 percent in the first quarter of 2024. iOS, on the other hand, saw its market share fall from 20 percent to 16 percent during the same period. This means that sales of the iPhone 15 series are not at the expected level.

HarmonyOS surpassed iOS in usage rates in China for the first time. It has also become the country’s second largest mobile platform after Android. Huawei points out that it has made a great recovery, especially after being deprived of basic services due to US sanctions.

The usage rate of Android in the global market is around 77 percent. HarmonyOS, on the other hand, doubled the number of users compared to the previous year, increasing it from 2 percent to 4 percent. Global iOS usage ranks second with 19 percent.

Analysts predict that Huawei will further build on this momentum. Huawei, which attracted great attention with devices such as the Mate 60 and Pura 70 series, wants to bring HarmonyOS to laptops as well.
