Hannover 96: After winning in Kiel, Jan Zimmermann waives a sweet bonus – 2nd Bundesliga

The “new” reds are fun.

Eight out of ten new signings were in the starting line-up in Kiel. 96 won easily 3-0 – the second victory in the second game after the international break, again without conceding a goal.

The 300 fans who traveled with us were very enthusiastic and even roared the old Euro League song (“European Cup, 4-Hill Tour”). After the final whistle, everyone celebrated together. Something is growing again between the lawn and the grandstand.

Sweet victory after lightning red!

“We are really happy that we were able to get three points”, cheered coach Jan Zimmermann (41), who clearly won the duel against Kiel’s Ole Werner (33).

The key scene was the early dismissal of Ioannis Gelios in the 10th minute. The Kiel keeper had thrown the ball against Lukas Hinterseer. Before the 96 striker can slide into the empty goal, Gelios knocked him over – red.

After a balanced initial phase, 96 got off to a flying start in the majority. Sebastian Ernst (18th) with a deflected shot, Sebastian Kerk (25th) and Linton Maina (34th) after a long tee shot by goalkeeper Ron-Robert Zieler decided the game in just 16 minutes. It was the first goal of the season for Ernst and Maina – finally!

That tasted “sweet tooth” Zimmermann, who was in a room with Werner during the football teacher training course in 2019/20. “Haribo, lots of Haribo bags” he got for the evenings, as the Kiel trainer revealed in an interview with BILD.

As a result, TV broadcaster Sky offered a wine gum bonus for the winner before the game – but Zimmermann did without it. Sky reporter Sven Töllner (49) to BILD: “Unfortunately he didn’t pick you up.” The victory was sweet enough …

The second half was not so tasty. 96 only managed the lead. After Maxi Beier’s missed chance (49th), there wasn’t much going on offensively.

Zimmermann: “Anyone who’s ever played soccer knows what it feels like to go into halftime with 3-0 and one man more. It looked exactly like that. I would have liked it to be even more solid. But in the end we didn’t let much burn in the second half. “

And now it’s only three points behind third place. Against Sandhausen (Sunday, 1.30 p.m.) the new Reds want to keep cheering.
