Habeck’s problem with the Secretary of State: Graichen’s delicate recruitment of personnel

Berlin Patrick Graichen is considered one of the most experienced experts in energy policy. But as well as the state secretary knows the content, his management style in the Federal Ministry of Economics appears questionable. After Graichen’s vote for his best man as the new head of the German Energy Agency (Dena) dominated the headlines in the past few days, another event is now raising questions.

According to information from the Handelsblatt, the State Secretary tried to acquire additional staff at Dena last year. According to information from ministry circles, Graichen asked the agency to make 60 people available to the Ministry of Economic Affairs. At the peak of the energy crisis, they should help to cope with the enormous workload. Dena is a limited liability company that is owned equally by the federal government and the state-owned KfW bank.
