Munich, Berlin The Federal Ministry of Economics has selected 32 company projects on microelectronics that are to be given massive support as part of a European project. “The global delivery bottlenecks show: Germany and Europe have no time to lose. We have to work together to meet our needs for microelectronics ourselves and to bring production back to Germany and Europe. To do this, we will take billions in funding, ”said Federal Economics Minister Robert Habeck (Greens) to the Handelsblatt.

“We are relying on innovative, energy-efficient and climate-friendly technologies in order to advance the transformation of our industry towards CO2 neutrality,” added the minister.

The 32 projects are to become part of a so-called IPCEI project of the EU. IPCEI stands for “Important Project of Common European Interest”. Generous eligibility criteria apply to projects bearing the IPCEI stamp. The EU states can therefore support them very comprehensively.
