Dusseldorf It has startled many property owners. Only in the past few weeks has it become clear to many of those affected that a change in the annual tax law could result in more gift tax for real estate from 2023 than before. The Bundestag passed the law this Friday, the Bundesrat still has to approve it in mid-December.
The background to this are changes in real estate valuations due to the sharp rise in prices in recent years. Experts calculate that 30 to 40 percent more gift tax could ultimately be due, because the tax allowances for recipients will not change.
