Dusseldorf The new SAP strategy will hit many hospitals hard. The software company announced in October 2022 that it would discontinue hospital software. Clinics now have to find a suitable second provider or exchange their system.

The SAP software seems to be widely used, according to a survey by the German-speaking SAP user group (DSAG), an independent advocacy group. 55 members from the healthcare working group took part in the survey, they come to a total of 133,224 beds. More than half work in a facility that uses the hospital software IS-H for accounting and for organizing their merchandise management. At 80 percent, other tasks such as external invoices and documentation are processed via the system.
