In 2021, Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg at the Facebook Connect event said, GTA: San Andreas announced the VR version of his game and created a buzz. However, after three years, this project was unfortunately shelved. Here’s why…
Meta has suspended the VR version of GTA: San Andreas indefinitely!
In response to a user’s question on Meta Quest VR’s official YouTube channel about the status of the VR version, Meta Quest replied, “The VR version of GTA: San Andreas has been put on hold indefinitely, we are currently focusing on other projects” He responded. This statement made the future of this long-awaited project uncertain.
According to a statement by Meta, the company is currently focused on other projects and work on the GTA: San Andreas VR version has been put on hold. While this offers a glimmer of hope that there may be other collaborations with Rockstar in the future, for now the project has gone down in history as a huge disappointment.
In fact, this project, announced in 2021, was based on the “Definitive Edition” version of the GTA trilogy. However, this version of the trilogy received great criticism among gamers; quality issues and high pricing seriously affected the popularity of the game. As a result, the developer of this version Grove Street Games team was disbanded, and the mobile and VR versions of GTA were also delayed.
The suspension of the VR version of GTA: San Andreas may have disappointed many players and VR enthusiasts who were waiting, and it remains a big question whether the project will be picked up again or cancelled altogether.
So, what do you think about this situation? If a VR version of GTA: San Andreas was realized, what kind of innovations could it bring to the gaming world? What do you think about this decision of the Meta? You can write your opinions in the comments section below.
