Dusseldorf, Essen The period of uncertainty is getting longer and longer for the employees of Galeria Karstadt Kaufhof. The management had originally announced that in January it would be clear which branches of the department store chain would be closed – and thus which jobs would be lost. There is no more talk of that now.
After all, it has now been determined what severance pay employees who have to leave the company should receive. In the reconciliation of interests, which the management and the works council concluded last week, it is stipulated that there should be two monthly salaries as severance pay – however, a maximum of 7500 euros. The general works council chairman Jürgen Ettl confirmed this to the Handelsblatt.
