FTX Investigated By Authorities In The Bahamas Where It Is Headquartered!

A Bahamian regulator, according to the local newspaper The Tribune, citing anonymous sources. cryptocurrency The exchange company is investigating issues with FTX.

FTX Digital Markets, an FTX unit, is licensed in the Bahamas under a recently enacted law designed to position the island nation as a financial hub for digital asset companies.

The Bahamas Securities Commission was “very closely monitoring and investigating” the spread of news that the company was about to collapse, the newspaper reported.

Efforts to bail out FTX continue after a potential bailout bid by rival exchange Binance failed Wednesday.

FTX founder Sam Bankman-Fried and most of his senior executives live in the Bahamas, where they have purchased residences, including the upscale Albany estate community.

Stating that the firm plans to build a local headquarters and employ 700 people, the newspaper also quoted local businessmen who said the company donated to Bahamian charities and invested a lot of money in the economy.

The company had recently moved its headquarters from Hong Kong to the Bahamas.

However, the US arm of the company, FTX.US, recently made a statement that they could close trading in a few days, so they asked users to hurry.

A spokesperson for the Commission said it was unable to comment as the office was closed due to the hurricane warning.
