Free Games May 2021: Auto, Batman, and Indie Games – Game News

Watch out, there’s something here for free! At least that’s what the providers of the major video game platforms promise. Of course, the promised free games are usually not completely free. If you want to download it, you need to be a member of the respective game service. But since many gamers are already paying, there are real bargains to be found here. BILD presents the free games in May 2021!

Sony Playstation

The “Playstation Plus” subscription costs 8.99 euros per month or 59.99 euros per year. In addition to the free games, it includes 100 gigabytes of cloud storage for saved games, discounts on games and add-ons and the option to use the Playstation network for online games.

From May 4th to May 31st the following titles will be available for free on Playstation 4 and 5: “Wreckfest Drive Hard, Die Last” (PS5), previously 39.90 euros, from 6 years
“Battlefield V”
(PS4 and 5), previously 19.99 euros, 16 years and older
“Stranded Deep”
(PS4 and 5), previously 19.99 euros, from 12 years

UNLIMITED GAMING EXPERIENCE

Free online games

BILD says: After there were top titles in April, May is not that good. Only “Battlefield” used to be a real hit, and that is now two and a half years old.

Sony is doing an interesting experiment with “Wreckfest”: The PS5 version, which is now offered free of charge, should actually only appear in June, then even for owners of the PS4 version there is a fee.

In addition to the “Plus” offers, Sony is currently also giving away titles as part of the Corona campaign “Play at home”. Until May 15th there is still here “Horizon Zero Dawn” including the add-on “Frozen Wild” free of charge for all Playstation owners. Sony is giving away one of the absolute top games of the past few years.

Microsoft Xbox

“Xbox Live Gold” is also booked primarily for online gaming. For the 6.99 euros per month (19.99 for three months) there are also discounts on other titles and new “Games with Gold” every month.

In May, the following titles will be available for free on Xbox 360, Xbox One and Xbox Series S | X:
“Truck Racing Championship” (April 16 to May 15), previously 59.99 euros, no age limit
“Lego Batman” (May 1st to 15th), previously 43.88 euros, ages 6 and up
“Armello” (May 1 to 31), previously EUR 28.88, ages 6 and up
“Tropico 4” (16 to 30 May), previously 19.90 euros, from 12 years
“Dungeons 3” (May 16 to June 15), previously 22.15 euros, ages 12 and up

BILD says: Microsoft also seems to want to send its customers out into the fresh air rather than to the game console. The Games with Gold offer in May is unimpressive. After all: With “Armello” and “Tropico” there are two titles on offer that offer interesting game concepts, with “Lego Batman” an old, but really great game.

Amazon Prime Gaming

The online retailer does not have its own game console – instead gives away PC games to members of its Prime program (69 euros per year or 7.99 euros per month).

From May 3rd, the following titles will be available for free:
“Yoku’s Island Express”, previously 19.99 euros, from 6 years
“Healer’s Quest”, previously 14.99 euros, no USK recommendation
“Beholder”, previously 9.99 euros, from 12 years
“The Blind Prophet”, previously 19.99 Eujro, no USK recommendation
“A Blind Legend”, previously 6.99 euros, no USK recommendation

BILD says: As usual with Prime Gaming, there are no highlights in the free offer, but rather indie games that are still waiting for the big breakthrough. It will probably stay that way in May as well.

More exciting: Prime Gaming offers game content over and over again throughout the month. Included in May: “Fall Guys”, “Red Dead Online”, “GTA V Online”, “Rainbow Six” and “FIFA 21”.

Epic Game Store

The Epic Store offers one free game every week. To be able to load the game, all you need is a free registration in the games marketplace of the Fortnite inventors.

Until May 6th there is an add-on for “Idle Champions of the Forgotten Realms” free. The hero package for the mix of strategy and card-collecting game otherwise costs a whopping 100 dollars.

The week from May 6th to 13th will follow “Pine”, an open-world fantasy role-playing game that otherwise costs 20.99 euros.

“Pine” is visually reminiscent of the “Zelda” series from Nintendo. In terms of play, the title cannot keep up - but it still offers exciting adventures for RPG fans

BILD says: The May offer from Epic is impressive: The add-on for the “Forgotten Realms” game will make fans really happy, “Pine” is one of the games that RPG fans will love to try at least once.
