Flight to the ISS postponed: Maurer later takes all-start with humor – advisor

With a portion of serenity towards space …

The German astronaut Matthias Mauer reacted in a relaxed video message to the several days postponement of his flight to the International Space Station ISS. “All of this is part of space travel,” said Maurer in the short video that he published on Sunday night via Twitter.

“Always be flexible, adapt to the boundary conditions and, above all, take everything with a good sense of humor.” In the video, Maurer is in the crew quarters in the Kennedy Space Center in the US state with a gray T-shirt and blue cap To see Florida.

The 51-year-old Saarlander should actually have started on Sunday with his NASA colleagues Thomas Marshburn, Raja Chari and Kayla Barron from the Cape Canaveral spaceport in Florida to the ISS.

Due to bad weather conditions, NASA postponed the flight to Wednesday (November 3rd) around 24 hours before the scheduled start time.

“Enjoy your Sunday sleep and a few more days to get used to the change from CEST to CET,” Maurer had previously commented on Twitter.

Maurer would be the twelfth German in space – and the fourth German on the ISS. Together with Marshburn, Chari and Barron, the astronaut forms “Crew-3”. The four are to be transported in the “Crew Dragon” of the space company SpaceX by tech billionaire Elon Musk. On the ISS, Maurer will carry out numerous experiments over a period of about six months at an altitude of around 400 kilometers and will also complete an outdoor assignment.
