Cologne After the brilliant start to the year, the stock market has calmed down for the time being. With certificates, investors can also benefit in such market phases. Discount certificates are a special way of doing this, says Volker Meinel, certificate expert at BNP Paribas: “Those who are unsure how things will continue in the current environment, or who no longer trust the markets as much, will find these products interesting.”

A discount certificate allows you to invest in a share or index at a discount on the current price. However, this safety buffer has a price: the maximum profit is limited from the outset by the so-called cap, up to which investors benefit from the price increase of the underlying.

Stocks or indices with high volatility have good entry conditions, says derivatives expert Marcus Landau from DZ Bank. The Handelsblatt names five companies that are currently worth investing in via discount certificates.
