The recent crises have followed one another at an ever faster pace – a warning sign?

Frankfurt Is there a connection between the recent bank failures and the price of gold near its all-time high? Heinz-Werner Rapp is convinced of that. “I see a direct connection,” says the CEO of Feri AG, which manages around 54 billion euros in customer funds. The expert predicts: “The financial and currency system is becoming more and more vulnerable.”

The 61-year-old is one of the German asset managers who also examine very long-term trends in the economy, society, geopolitics and science with regard to their consequences for the financial markets. To this end, he founded the in-house think tank Feri Cognitive Finance Institute, which he directs.

According to Rapp, the rapid succession of the most recent crises is also striking. “First the pandemic, then the Ukraine war, now the banking debacle – all in just three years. This rapid escalation is putting the entire financial system under enormous stress,” he believes.
