Berlin, Paris At the G20 summit in Bali last week, Kristalina Georgieva made a grand entrance. The head of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) warned the heads of state and government that she was very worried “that we could sleepwalk into a world that would be poorer and less secure”. Those present listened attentively to Georgieva’s words. And yet: For many, she is already a woman on call.
The contract of the 69-year-old Bulgarian runs for almost two more years. But the IMF and various capitals are already unanimously saying that a second term for Georgieva is unthinkable. This is due to her age, but also to great dissatisfaction with her administration.
