Federal government criticizes Lufthansa bonuses – Green politicians: “Indecent and aloof”

Frankfurt, Berlin The federal government is critical of the planned bonus payments to the Lufthansa board for the time during the state participation. Government spokesman Steffen Hebestreit spoke on Wednesday of a violation of the relevant agreements in the course of the rescue of the group. A later payment of saved bonuses cannot exist. We will discuss this with the company.

The Handelsblatt reported on Tuesday that the supervisory board had decided on bonus payments in the millions for the years 2021 and 2022 at the beginning of December. The bonuses are part of long-term variable compensation from 2021 to 2024, which is to be paid out from 2025. Several employee representatives had voted against the project in the control committee.
