Rumors of a crazy barter business are making the rounds …
As the Spanish portal “todofichajes.com” reports, Chelsea FC is planning a mega-deal with Timo Werner (25) and Leroy Sané (25). The Bayern star should be at the top of the blues wish list, especially coach Thomas Tuchel (48) is said to be a big Sané fan.
Werner, who moved from Leipzig to London for around 53 million euros in the summer of 2020, is no longer the first choice for the Champions League winner. After the mega transfer from striker Romelu Lukaku (€ 28/115 million transfer to Inter Milan), Werner sits on the bench (only 9 minutes in the last 3 league games).
So what’s the deal with the swap rumor?
In the summer of 2020, Sané came from Manchester City to the German record champions for around 49 million euros, got a five-year contract and, with an annual salary of over 15 million euros, is one of the top earners in Munich.
Although they are only partially satisfied with their performance so far (12 goals and 15 assists in 50 competitive games), it is difficult to imagine at the moment that Bayern would let Sané go again. The bosses have high hopes for him. Bayern sports director Hasan Salihamidžić (44) said last week: “I believe in him. We will still enjoy him a lot! “
BUT: Werner has often been an issue at FC Bayern. Above all, ex-FCB coach Hansi Flick (55 / now national coach) would have liked to sign the attacker last summer – but then got Sané. This deal has always been a priority at Brazzo.
Also in summer 2019 Bayern could have brought Werner for around 25 million euros from RB Leipzig. Werner himself had flirted in December 2018: “If you play at RB Leipzig in Germany and want to stay in Germany, then there is only one club you can switch to …”
But not all those responsible were behind the possible transfer. It was considered where and whether Werner could even play behind or next to super striker Robert Lewandowski (33). And ex-trainer Niko Kovac (48) should not have been a Werner fan. Werner was finally annoyed by the theater and extended first in Leipzig – with Julian Nagelsmann (34), who is considered a great sponsor of Werner.
Both should have a close relationship to this day and exchange ideas regularly. A year later he switched to Chelsea (contract until 2025).
Conclusion: Although Bavaria has long had a fundamental interest in Werner, it is – as of now – very unlikely that there will be an exchange deal with Sané in the summer of 2022. However, the Werner topic could get hotter again if Kingsley Coman (25 / contract until 2023) should leave Munich next summer …
