Washington According to information from the “New York Times”, the US authorities are targeting a military employee from the state of Massachusetts in their search for the originator of the massive data leak from secret documents. The newspaper reported Thursday that it was a 21-year-old National Guard employee who ran a chat group on Discord, a platform popular with video gamers. Two US officials confirmed to the newspaper that investigators wanted to question the young man in connection with the secret service scandal.

The US news agency AP also reported, citing insiders, that the federal police FBI wanted to question a 21-year-old who was a member of the airspace unit of the National Guard in Massachusetts.

The New York Times wrote that details of the 21-year-old’s childhood home, which were published in family photos on social media, matched details in the margins of some photos of the classified documents released.

The Wall Street Journal also reported on Thursday that investigators believe the leaked classified documents came from a National Guardsman who was stationed in Fort Bragg, North Carolina, at the time of disclosure. An arrest could be made as early as Thursday, it said.

Apparently secret documents from US agencies on the Russian war of aggression against Ukraine have been circulating on the Internet for weeks. Shortly before Easter, US media reported for the first time on the information about both warring parties – without publishing the documents themselves. An intensive search is being made for the person who published these documents. The US authorities are investigating.

US President Joe Biden said on Thursday during a visit to Ireland, with a view to investigators’ investigations: “You are getting closer to the matter.” He was not more specific. The Washington Post previously reported that the alleged author of the data leak worked at a military base. The young man, who is hiding behind the mysterious letters “OG”, initially shared the explosive documents as transcripts with a chat group he led on the Discord platform. He later uploaded photos of printed documents there.
