Dusseldorf, Berlin In connection with the Wirecard scandal, the auditor oversight Apas found massive breaches of duty by the auditor EY and therefore imposed high penalties. EY is banned from accepting new audit engagements from public-interest entities for two years. There is also a fine of 500,000 euros. The Handelsblatt learned this from several people familiar with the events.
In the course of Monday, further details on the decision of the Apas should become public. It is the most comprehensive package of sanctions that the auditor oversight body Apas has issued to date. The Handelsblatt had already reported on the emerging record penalty on Thursday.
