EY fights for mandates – and for trust

Dusseldorf The major auditors are currently vying for who will be the new auditor at Deutsche Telekom. The group has re-tendered the lucrative mandate for 2022 after withdrawing the freshly won contract from EY in the spring due to Wirecard allegations. But surprisingly, EY is now fighting again for the Telekom mandate.

As the Handelsblatt learned from industry circles, the company is taking part in the pitch to select the new auditor. EY wants to show its colors with it. When making its decision, the auditing firm should also have kept an eye on the political changes in Berlin. Because the withdrawal of the Telekom mandate took place at the behest of the outgoing federal government. The federal government has a good third stake in Deutsche Telekom. With the sacking, the grand coalition wanted to set an example and hold EY, as a long-time Wirecard tester, accountable.
