In January 2025, Blizzard Entertainment reintroduced the popular Plunderstorm mode in World of Warcraft, aiming to attract players with new rewards. However, the excitement has waned due to bugs affecting the distribution of these rewards, leading to player frustration. While the mode offers Bronze and Silver Loots for players who achieve over 5000 Plunders, many are struggling to receive them. Additionally, a specific class within the game appears to have minimal engagement from the player base, raising questions about its appeal.
Blizzard Revives Plunderstorm in 2025
In January 2025, Blizzard Entertainment made waves by reintroducing a fan-favorite temporary mode: Plunderstorm! This Battle Royale variant of World of Warcraft had garnered acclaim during its initial run, prompting the publisher to bring it back at the start of the year. While Plunderstorm continues to offer a distinctive avenue for players to earn exclusive rewards, it appears to be generating slightly less buzz than before. In response, Blizzard has rolled out new rewards to captivate fans, but this move has led to more complaints than celebrations, primarily due to a lack of communication and bugs affecting reward distribution.
New Rewards in WoW Plunderstorm
In a recent forum announcement, Blizzard discreetly revealed the introduction of a new reward for the Plunderstorm game mode. Players who have amassed over 5000 Plunders since the mode’s relaunch will be eligible for this reward.
This reward includes 2 Bronze Loots from Labarrique and 1 Silver Loot from Labarrique, which can be exchanged for Mathurin’s Chests and a Pirate Loot at the NPC Da’Kash Vilcomptable in Dornogal.
- Bronze Loots from Labarrique
Item level 10
Linked to the battalion
Labarrique’s crew is known for pilfering gear from inexperienced adventurers.
Contains a random piece of equipment tailored to your current loot specialization. - Silver Loot from Labarrique
Item level 610
Linked to the battalion
Labarrique’s team seems to enjoy acquiring gear from daring volunteers.
Contains a random piece of equipment from the Heroic mode of the Nerub’ar Palace.
These in-game currencies and rewards are dispatched to players via in-game mail. While on the surface, this extra incentive may delight Plunderstorm fans, it falls short of being groundbreaking.
Issues with Reward Distribution
However, there is a significant drawback. As of now, many players are experiencing bugs related to the distribution of Silver and Bronze Loots. Numerous fans have reported that they cannot find the promised rewards in their mailboxes, despite having surpassed the 5000 Plunders mark required since the event’s launch.
This battalion-linked reward is one-time use (one opening per account), and players are also struggling to identify which characters received the mail. Additionally, the unique nature of these rewards increases the risk of accidentally opening them with an undesired reroll. Consequently, the new rewards introduced on January 31 could lead to considerable frustration among less vigilant players.
Interestingly, one particular class within World of Warcraft seems to be avoided by players. According to a well-known statistics site, only 4 out of 100 players engage with this class. Has Blizzard crafted a class that is too niche to draw in a larger audience?
