With the Presidential Decree published today, an important exception was made for the import of agricultural products from Ukraine. The exception, which was put into practice to prevent the food supply in Turkey from being affected, was that no official document would be required.
As Russia entered the borders of Ukraine with a large-scale military ‘operation’ and the war started between the two countries, some concerns arose in Turkey, which has relations with both countries. One of the biggest of these concerns was about agricultural products. Turkey, which is dependent on Russia and Ukraine especially for wheat, a new precautionary decision he signed.
The Presidential Decree published in the Official Gazette included important changes regarding the principles to be applied in the import of agricultural products from Ukraine. According to the decision, due to the developments in Ukraine, exception to agricultural imports was brought. With this exception, Turkey will aim to ensure food supply security.
