Berlin The military commissioner of the Bundeswehr, Eva Högl, demands that the planned 100 billion euro special fund really only benefits the Bundeswehr. “Civil crisis prevention or humanitarian aid are also important, but funds must then be planned into the regular budget,” said Högl in an interview with the Handelsblatt.

If the Union ties its consent to the necessary amendment to the Basic Law to the condition that the special fund benefits the Bundeswehr in full, “I can only underline that,” emphasized the former SPD member of the Bundestag.

It is a “scandal” that the soldiers of the Bundeswehr do not even have the material they need when deployed abroad, said the former deputy chairman of the SPD parliamentary group.
