Ethereum: Shanghai Update To Be Tested On This Date

Preparing for the Shanghai-Capella update in March, Ethereum developers will activate the public testnet called Zhejiang on February 7.

Zhejiang, which is currently in preview, will be available to everyone with the update to be made in the coming days.

Users who stake ether on the Ethereum blockchain, which now works with the proof-of-stake algorithm, cannot withdraw this money they have invested in the blockchain for now.

With the Shanghai-Capella update, also known as Shapella for short, this will change and validators in the network will be able to withdraw their staked ethers.

Ethereum developers plan to run several different tests publicly to be able to roll out these updates in March. The first of these will begin with Zhejiang.

According to the information shared by Tim Beiko from the Ethereum Foundation team, Ethereum teams are currently trying to solve any technical problems that may be encountered before activating Zhejiang.

Thanks to this network, which will be activated next week, everyone will be able to test these updates. Here, users will be able to run a validator node and try to withdraw the staked ethers.

The final rehearsal before the Shanghai-Capella update in March will take place on the Goerli testnet.
