Munich In old West Berlin, before reunification, “felt affairs” had a long tradition. Top politicians, whether from the SPD or CDU, regularly resigned because of some construction affair. The real estate entrepreneur Wolf-Dieter Wolf, born in West Prussia in 1944, came to the Spree from northern Germany in 1979 – and quietly rose to become the city’s most important political networker.
But the scandal about self-service and explosive business in Rundfunk Berlin-Brandenburg (RBB) makes new felt visible. Again, it’s about construction projects. In the end, Schattenmann Wolf only had a multiple resignation – and many are wondering: What else is there?
The excitement at the Berlin trade fair company and at the RBB is equally great these days. On Tuesday evening, after days of revelations and debates, Wolf himself pulled the ripcord as chairman of the board of directors of both houses. He also resigned as head of the supervisory board of the commercial subsidiary RBB Media, which acquires advertising or issues licenses.
