Dusseldorf Anyone who has been looking for a new electricity provider in the past few months has either not found one at all or had to pay high tariffs. With the falling stock exchange prices, the electricity discounters are now returning. With prices between 28 and 32 cents per kilowatt hour, providers such as Sparfuxx, Ideal Energie or Grüner Funke undercut each other on comparison portals. Well-known names such as Lichtblick or Pfalzwerke also tempt with low tariffs.

“We have seen a turning point since mid-January. Around 50 percent of the providers are now back – that corresponds to a threefold increase compared to the peak of the crisis,” said the head of the comparison portal Verivox, Daniel Puschmann, the Handelsblatt.

Since autumn 2022, new customer prices for electricity have fallen by around 50 percent and for gas by as much as 70 percent. Nevertheless, consumer advocates warn that you should take a close look at the offers.
