Dusseldorf The preferences of prospective buyers are shifting more and more clearly on the German real estate market. This is confirmed by a representative survey commissioned by Engel & Völkers Finance. The study by the independent broker of real estate financing shows that climate and environmentally friendly living is becoming increasingly important when buying real estate.

For eight out of ten respondents, good insulation is important when buying a property, and 62 percent of respondents consider a solar system on the roof to generate electricity to be crucial. That is almost ten percent more than in the previous year. And almost half of those surveyed attach importance to a heat pump and environmentally friendly building materials.

Rebecca Scheidler, Managing Director of Engel & Völkers Finance, says: “In our study, we saw that energy saving measures are becoming increasingly important for many of those surveyed so that they can still realize their dream of owning their own property in these challenging times and not because of exploding ancillary costs to get into difficulties.”
