Dusseldorf Only 2.7 percent – many SAP employees found the salary increase in the spring a disappointment given the high inflation. There wasn’t much they could do about it: Since the software manufacturer does not have a collective agreement due to the lack of union representation, the board of directors determines many components of the payment.

A few months before the next salary round, however, it is becoming apparent that expectations are likely to be significantly higher this time. On Thursday, Upgrade, the Verdi union’s company group, called for a “strong salary boost” for the employees.

In view of the price development, 10.5 percent is reasonable for the lower salary groups, explained Upgrade works council Andreas Hahn. This corresponds to the demand of the union for the public service. If you take into account the upper levels with 8.0 percent, that is “overall a good compromise”.
