Frankfurt Cathie Wood and Elon Musk: The well-known investor and the eccentric entrepreneur strengthened themselves in a Twitter exchange in which they criticized the rapid growth of index funds. The investor complains that index funds for the US stock index S&P 500 have missed the exorbitant price increase in Tesla shares – a 400-fold increase between the IPO in 2010 and the inclusion of the electric car group in the stock index ten years later.

Tesla founder Musk agrees in a reply tweet. “Passive investing has gone too far,” Musk wrote on the short message service. And: “There should be a swing back to active investing.”

He is looking for support for his thesis from a passive guru, of all people, the legendary founder of the US fund giant Vanguard, John Bogle. He pointed out the dangers of the investment form, emphasizes the e-car founder, who now wants to take over Twitter.
