Berlin For the economy, it sounded like a promising promise: At the start of the year, the new electronic certificate of incapacity for work (eAU) would relieve employers and their employees. The classic “yellow note” in paper form would have had its day.
But after a good eight weeks, the relief that digitalization has brought to many companies does not seem to have arrived. It can also be stressful for employees. You are at risk of delayed payroll processing. Or they have to go back to the “yellow note”.
“Unfortunately, the new system doesn’t work at all in practice,” summarizes the President of the Association of Family Entrepreneurs, Reinhold von Eben-Worlée. “We are experiencing a chaos of responsibilities and additional bureaucracy due to duplicate structures.” In some companies, the data arrives too late or not at all. In addition, the eAU does not apply to all sick leave.
