Electric cars as company cars are booming

Dusseldorf Change is being pushed at T-Systems: employees of the Telekom subsidiary can only order electric cars as company cars. By 2025, all 1,400 vehicles should be purely electric. That could serve as a model for the parent company: “The CO2 targets can only be achieved with electromobility. So we have to set the right incentives,” says Olga Nevska, Managing Director of Telekom Mobility Solutions.

Just three years ago, electric cars led a shadowy existence in the company car market. But that is changing dramatically. According to figures from the industry consultancy Dataforce, their share in Germany has risen from 2.5 percent in 2019 to currently 13.5 percent.

Experts predict that electric vehicles will already be the most popular drive type for company cars by 2024 and will achieve a market share of around 29 percent the following year. Dataforce specializes in this topic and has been collecting data for 25 years using figures from the Federal Motor Transport Authority and surveys of fleet providers.
