Elden Ring DLC dropped to ‘mixed’ level on Steam!

Elden Ring’s highly anticipated Shadow of the Erdtree DLC received “mixed” reviews from players on Steam. Players complain about the difficulty level of the DLC and performance issues in the PC version.

Shadow of the Erdtree DLC was downgraded to “mixed” on Steam after nearly 15,000 players reviewed it. While players praise the game’s visual presentation and world design, they criticize issues such as FPS limitations, stuttering, and bosses with illogical movements. Especially running around doing nothing for 20 minutes in large open areas and challenging boss battles have disappointed the players.

An actor, “I like to run around doing nothing for 20 minutes and collect random consumable items that I will never use. The bosses are extremely boring to fight.” While another player commented on the problem of not being able to start the game: “I’m trying to open the game but nothing works. “There are many people experiencing the same problem and there is no definitive solution yet.”

On Steam, some players note that the Shadow of the Erdtree DLC feels like a mash-up of assets from Elden Ring’s base game: “It feels like they mixed all the assets in a blender. Overcoming challenges is still fun, but I was expecting more innovation from this DLC, and it’s definitely not worth $40.”

An experienced player criticizes the current state of DLC, adding: “The world design and colors are really nice, but balance is a big issue. Even with 60 vigor, I get killed in two hits by almost every enemy. Enemy design in the DLC follows a philosophy where each enemy deals massive damage, has a lot of health, and has endless combos that leave almost no gaps.”

FromSoftware’s Soulsborne games have always been known for their difficulty. Hidetaka Miyazaki, the creator of the game, stated that this difficulty level is a fundamental part of the game and said: “Lowering the difficulty makes the game pointless” he said. He emphasized that the success of Elden Ring comes from the players’ feeling of overcoming these challenges.
