Eberspächer boss Martin Peters flourishes in crisis

esslingen Rarely has the time as an entrepreneur at Eberspächer been harder for Martin Peters than in the past three years. And the manager, who has married in, has been working for the Esslingen-based automotive supplier for 20 years. He is now the managing partner and the only family member in the management of the company.

Since 2020, the 55-year-old has been rock hard: The company, which grew up with exhaust systems, is fighting harder than others with the transformation to electromobility. Then came Corona – and two years ago co-partner Heinrich Baumann died completely unexpectedly from heart failure on a hike in Bavaria. Until then, Baumann was the face of Eberspächer, while Peters, as CFO, stayed in the background.

That was the end of it. He had to lead the company through supply bottlenecks, chip shortages, galloping raw material prices and dramatic cost increases. And as if that wasn’t enough, a hacker attack paralyzed the entire IT last autumn.
