Berlin Anyone who wants to retire before the actual retirement age and want to make up for any deductions that are due with special payments should submit an application before the end of this year. Because in 2023 the compensation of the pension deductions will be significantly more expensive. The German Pension Insurance (DRV) points this out.

The statutory retirement age will gradually increase to 67 by 2031. However, employees with at least 35 insurance years have the option of taking early retirement from the age of 63.

They have to accept deductions if they have not paid contributions for 45 years or more. For every month they retire early, 0.3 percent of their monthly pension is permanently deducted. An employee who was born in 1964 – the first year who had to work until the age of 67 – would receive 14.4 percent less monthly pension if she left the job at the age of 63.
