DWS: Sustainable Investment – Not all ESG funds are climate neutral

Berlin, Dusseldorf In its advertising promises, the fund provider DWS takes the needs of its customers very seriously. The Deutsche Bank subsidiary advertises on its website that investors play an important role in the fight against climate change. 48 percent of customers have already invested part of their assets in sustainable investments.

The fact that investors have invested in coal-fired power companies and airlines, among other things, is not obvious when it comes to the supposedly green DWS products.

In the international media project “Great Green Investment Investigation” with the Dutch platforms Follow the Money and Investico and eight European media houses, the Handelsblatt evaluated more than 800 funds labeled green, 547 of which are tradable in Germany. They have all submitted to the EU Commission’s strictest eco-regulations and are therefore only allowed to make climate-friendly investments.
