Dresden – Nobody knows him, but his graffiti are cult worldwide and are auctioned for millions! Banksy, the street artist from England, who secretly sprays house walls, brushes on paintings and thereby engages in social criticism.

Now shows the Dresdner Flow of times (Königsbrücker Straße 96) 150 works by the Briton for the first time – including replicas of the surroundings, where they can be found in the original. Unauthorized. So “stolen” by the genius … But that shouldn’t bother Banksy, since for him art is there for everyone, belongs in the public …

In Dresden you can see: “The Disappearance of the Telephone Booth” with a half-buried red telephone booth. The gigantic painting “Backdeveloped Parliament”, which shows a British House of Commons full of monkeys and which was auctioned for 11 million euros in 2019. Or the art action of the self-destructing picture “Girl with a balloon” … Even a London subway was reconstructed for “the world’s largest Banksy exhibition with 1,800 square meters”, says exhibition operator Oliver Forster (44).

Six sprayers copied Banksy’s works and explained how they came about. “Of course we tried to contact Banksy to teach him about the Dresden show – also in the hope that he might create something special for it too. But we didn’t get an answer, ”says Forster. Which is not surprising. Despite his worldwide cult status, the Briton has been able to keep his identity a secret for decades.

The exhibition is open daily (except Mondays) until January 9th. Time tickets from 17 euros (adults) or 9 euros (children) are available at www.mystery-banksy.com
